Here Be Monsters: Mapping Newfoundland’s Bird Species with the Newfoundland Breeding Bird Atlas

The Newfoundland Breeding Bird Atlas is a massive citizen science effort to map all bird species breeding on the island of Newfoundland over a 5-year period. The project was launched in 2020 and is approaching the final year of data collection this summer. Join us to learn how breeding bird atlases work and why this Atlas is so important for Newfoundland, and to hear about our progress to date, the highlights (and lowlights) of fieldwork in remote Newfoundland, and how you can join in the fun. |

An Evening of Owls

Join us for this free event to learn about the owl species of Newfoundland and Labrador, and how citizen science is being used to discover more about these mysterious creatures of the night. Winter 2024: The Birds of Newfoundland Returns
Back by popular demand! Starting Monday, January 22nd, we will once again be hosting our 12-week webinar series on the birds of Newfoundland. Over the next few months, we will walk you through the basics of birding, discuss how to identify the species breeding on The Rock, and highlight opportunities to get involved in birding citizen science projects. A list of topics and registration links is below. Register for one or two sessions or all 12; the choice is yours. We hope to see you there!
NOTE: The webinar on April 8th (Atlassing for Beginners) will start 45 minutes later than usual, at 8:15 pm, to facilitate eclipse viewing for our attendees!
